The show car is a 1972 Pontiac LeMans Sport. It has the high output 400 ci small block, taken from a 1970 Pontiac GTO. It is mated to an Edelbrock proformer intake and 800 cfm Edelbrock 4 barrel carburator. The 3 speed automatic transmission is mated to a posi rear end from a 1970 GTO. It has a custom console, GTO bucket seats, full gauges, and an aftermarket steering wheel.
The typical car show event allows for the sharing of your gospel story as you talk with car enthusiasts about the show car. Unlike most evangelistic conversations with strangers, there’s no shortage of people that will start up a conversation with you. There are plenty of parallels between car restoration and life restoration that only comes through Jesus.
In addition to sharing your faith, we also place free bibles in the engine bay for people to take with them. At our largest event, the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival, we usually see over 100 bibles distributed.
Car shows are also a great time to connect with other show car owners and start a relationship that carries over year to year and show to show. There are also car clubs that you can join to become even more a part of this special community.
In addition to the car shows, we have also been involved with the Behind the Walls prison ministry and have taken the car into some facilities in order to share our testimony and the gospel with the inmates. This is a unique opportunity to witness to a captive audience.
We are currently in the process of restoring a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race truck so we can use it at car shows as well.
